Depois de imenso tempo fora, estou de volta! Ultimamente tem sido difícil manter a consistência por aqui, mas espero que de agora em diante consiga trazer-vos um post semana sim, semana não.

Hoje trago-vos o kit de sobrevivência de crochet! Uma lista de aqueles elementos essenciais que têm que andar sempre com vocês para conseguirem fazer obras de arte em todo o lado! Pode também servir de guia para quem está a pensar iniciar-se no crochet mas não sabe bem do que precisa.

Hi Bunnies!

After a long time off, I'm back! Lately it has been difficult to maintain consistency here, but I hope from now on I can bring you a post week-in, week.out.

Today I bring you the Crochet Survival Kit! A list with the essential elements to take with you to make crochet artworks everywhere! It can also serve as guide for anyone who's thinking about starting make crochet but doesn't know what need.

1- Cestinha: antes de mais é essencial ter um sítio onde colocar todo o material de modo a poder ser transportado. Pode ser uma cestinha, uma mochila, uma tote bag, uma carteira... É o que vos der mais jeito ou gostarem mais! 

2- Agulhas de crochet: este é o nosso instrumento de trabalho, é através dela que nascem as peças. Tentem comprar as agulhas numa retrosaria pois as cabeças delas se forem de má qualidade são difíceis de trabalhar e repuxam a linha, não é uma boa experiência. 

As agulhas têm vários números, tal como as linhas. Normalmente quando compram uma linha ou lã vem no rótulo qual o número de agulha mais adequado para trabalhar (embora depois de uma certa experiência vocês já saibam que número preferem usar). Os números que eu mais uso são o 1mm e o 1.5mm. O 1mm para linhas número 12  e o 1.5mm para linhas número 6. 

Depois há também diferença entre agulhas para linha/algodão e agulhas para lã, geralmente, as de algodão são de metal e as de lã são de plástico cinza claro, ou metal cinza claro. 

3- Linha: óbvio não é?! Considerando a agulha o nosso instrumento a linha é a nossa matéria prima. E quanto à linha existente um mar de possibilidades de cores, marcas, texturas,... É todo um universo fantástico a descobrir! Eu agora ando apaixonada pelas linhas de crochet da Limol, que é uma marca portuguesa. A qualidade é fantástica, as cores vibrantes e a cartela de cores enorme!

4- Agulha de coser: esta agulha é bastante opcional, depende muito do tipo de trabalho em crochet que estão a fazer. Por exemplo se estiverem a fazer um pano contínuo esta agulha não irá ser necessária. No meu caso preciso desta agulha para juntar as várias partes das flores. Se estiverem a fazer trabalhos com várias partes torna-se essencial uma agulha de coser grande.


5- Tesoura: uma pequena tesourinha é essencial para cortar a linha quando finalizamos o trabalho.

6- Inspiração: antes de começar algo tem que se saber o que se irá fazer certo? Neste momento é bom pesquisar bem, ver várias técnicas, ver várias imagens do que pretendemos fazer... Se forem iniciantes o youtube vai ser o vosso melhor amigo! No meu caso adoro o issuu, tem revistas fantásticas de crochet, embora escritas em línguas que desconheço, é bom para ver novas técnicas! O pinterest é outra referência muito boa, adoro ver flores e ilustrações de botânica por lá para conseguir obter flores mais realistas e diferentes. Se não pesquisarmos, se não quisermos ir mais longe, explorar cada vez mais, acabamos por estar sempre a fazer o mesmo.

7- Paninho: ter um paninho por perto também dá sempre jeito, seja para guardar o nosso trabalho de modo a não se sujar, seja para usarmos como base para pousar o nosso material numa mesa do parque.

1- Little Basket: first of all it's essential have a place to put all the materials so that can be transported. It could be a basket, a backpack, a tote bag, a bag... It's what works best for you or what you enjoy the most. 

2- Crochet hooks: this is our working tool it's thanks to their that the pieces are born. Try to buy the hooks in a haberdashery because their heads if they are of poor quality are difficult to work and pull the line, it's not a good experience.
The needles have several numbers, just like the thread. Usually when you buying a thread or wool comes on the label the number of the hook most suitable to work (although after a certain experience you already know which number you prefer to use). The numbers I use the most are 1mm and 1.5mm. The 1mm for threads number 12 and the 1.5mm for threads number 6.
It's also a difference between hooks for thread / cotton and hooks for wool, usually the cotton ones are made of metal and the wool ones are made of light gray plastic or light gray metal.

3- Thread: Obvious, right?! Considering the hook our instrument the thread is our raw material. And about thread there is a sea of possibilities of colors, brands, textures, ... It's an amazing universe to discover! In the moment, I'm in love with the Limol's crochet thread which is a Portuguese brand. The quality is fantastic, have vibrant colors and a huge color chart!

4- Sewing Needle: This needle is quite optional, it depends of  the type of crochet work are you working on. For example if you are making a continuous cloth this needle will not be needed. In my case I need this needle to join the various parts of the flowers. If you are doing multipart work a large sewing needle becomes essential.

5- Scissors: A small scissors is essential to cut the thread when we finish the piece.

6- Inspiration: before start something you have to know what will be done right? So make a good research to see several techiniques and images of what you intend to do... If you are beginner YouTube will be your best friend! 

In my case I love the Issuu, it has fantastic crochet magazines, although written in languages I don't understand, it's good to see new techniques! The pinterest is another good reference, I love seeing flowers and botanical illustrations there to get more realistic and different flowers. If we don't search, if we don't want to go further, explore more and more, we end up always doing the same.

 

7- Cloth: having a little cloth nearby it's also very useful, either to keep our work so that it does not get dirty, or to use as a base to place our material on a table in the park.
